The present study describes a simple, accurate, precise and highly sensitive UV-spectrophotometer method for the determination of Telmisartan in pharmaceutical dosage forms. Telmisartan is used for the treatment of hypertension. Absorption maxima of Telmisartan in methanol were found to be at 297nm. Developed method obeyed the Beer's law in the concentration range of 2-22 μg/ml and regression coefficient was found 0.9999. The results of the tablet analysis were validated with respect to accuracy (recovery), linearity, limit of detection and limit of quantitation were found to be satisfactory. Keywords

A simple, clean, fast, efficient and economical, microwave-assisted method for the synthesis of Phenytoin has been developed. The antiepileptic drug Phenytoin is synthesized by reaction between Benzil and Urea. The activation of Benzil and Urea is a type of pinacole-pinacolone rearrangement reaction. Comparison of microwave assisted synthesis with the conventional methods of synthesis demonstrates advantages related to shorter reaction time and in some cases better reaction yields. Moreover, microwave activation is a very convenient method for the synthesis of phenytoin resulting in good yield and purity.

A new, simple, rapid and novel reproducible UV-spectrophotometer estimation method has been developed for estimation of griseofulvin in marketed formulation. The proposed method was successfully applied for the estimation of griseofulvin in commercial pharmaceutical preparation with Absorbance maxima at 263.5 nm. A Shimadzu 1700 UV-Visible spectrophotometer with 1 cm matched quartz cells and acetone:ethanol:0.1N HCl (1:1:8) solvents were employed in the method. Developed methods obeyed the Beer’s law in the concentration range of 0.5-3.5 μg/ml and methods were validated statistically. The SD and Percentage recovery of the drug for the proposed method are given in method indicating no interference of the tablet excipients. The results of the tablet analysis were validated with respect to accuracy (recovery), linearity, limit of detection and limit of quantitation were found to be satisfactory. Keywords

Two simple, accurate, precise, reproducible, requiring no prior separation and economical procedures for simultaneous estimation of Amlodipine Besylate and Lisinopril in tablet dosage form have been developed. First method employs formation and solving of simultaneous equation using 239 nm and 207 nm as two analytical wavelengths for both drugs in Triple distilled water. The second method is Q value analysis based on measurement of absorptivity at 212.5 nm (as an iso-absorptive point) and 239 nm. Amlodipine Besylate and Lisinopril at their respective λmax 239 nm and 207 nm and at isoabsorptive point 212.5 nm shows linearity in a concentration range of 5-30 μg/mL. Recovery studies range from 101.49% for Amlodipine Besylate and 99.27% for Lisinopril in case of simultaneous equation method and 100.76% for Amlodipine Besylate and 99.73% for Lisinopril in case of Q-analysis method confirming the accuracy of the proposed method. The proposed method is recommended for routine analysis since it is rapid, simple, accurate and also sensitive and specific. Keywords

Two simple, precise and economical UV methods have been developed for the estimation of Ambroxol Hydrochloride in bulk and pharmaceutical formulations. Ambroxol Hydrochloride has the absorbance maxima at 246.5 nm (Method A), and in the first order derivative spectra showed sharp peak at 240 nm (Method B). Linearity for detector response was observed in the concentration range of 10-50 μg/ml for all two methods. The proposed methods were successfully applied for the estimation of Ambroxol Hydrochloride in commercial pharmaceutical preparation by using simple solvent Distilled water. The results of the tablet analysis were validated with respect to accuracy (recovery), linearity, Limit of Detection and Limit of Quantification and specificity were found to be satisfactory. Keywords

Two sensitive, simple, Rapid, accurate and precise methods for simultaneous estimation of Levofloxacin hemihydrate (LEVO) and Ornidazole (ONZ) in two component solid dosage forms have been developed. The methods employ the application of simultaneous equation and the absorbance ratio (Q-analysis). All these methods utilize 0.1 M HCl as a solvent. LEVO shows maximum absorbance at a wavelength of 293 nm and ONZ at 277 nm. where the linearity ranges for LEVO and ONZ were 2-14 μg/ml and 4-36 μg/ml. respectively. Determination of ratio of absorbance at 293 nm. The maximum absorption of LEVO and isobestic wavelength 270 nm. the linearity ranges for LEVO and ONZ were 2-20 μg/ml and 4-40 μg/ml. respectively. The procedures were successfully applied for the simultaneous determination of both drugs in laboratory prepared mixtures and in commercial tablet preparation. The accuracy of the methods was assessed by recovery studies and was found to be 99.73%±0.0050 and 99.09%±0.0191 for LEVO and ONZ respectively by the simultaneous equation method. and 99.72%±0.0166 and 99.67%±0.00626 for LEVO and ONZ respectively the graphical absorbance ratio method. Keywords

A sensitive and reliable high performance thin layer chromatographic method has been developed for quantitation of gallic acid in the dried flowers of Nymphaea stellata willd. The hydroalcoholic extract of N. stellata was chromatographed on silica gel 60 F254 plates with chloroform: ethyl acetate: formic acid, 7.5: 6: 0.5 (v/v/v), as mobile phase. Detection and quantitation were performed by densitrometric scanning at = 292 nm, by using deuterium lamp. The accuracy of the method was checked by conducting recovery studies at three different levels, using the standard addition method. The average recovery of gallic acid was found to be 98.33%. The proposed HPTLC method provide a good resolution of gallic acid from other constituents present in hydroalcoholic extract of dried flowers of N. stellata and can be used for quantitation of gallic acid present in extract. The method is rapid, simple and precise. Keywords

Two sensitive, simple, rapid, accurate and precise UV spectrophotometric methods for simultaneous estimation of Rosiglitazone Maleate (RSGN) and Gliclazide (GLZ) in two component solid dosage forms have been developed. These methods employ the application of simultaneous equation and the absorbance ratio (Q-analysis). A Shimadzu 1700 U.V visible spectrophotometer with 1cm matched quartz cells, and 0.1 N NaOH as solvent were employed in the both methods. Simultaneous equation method involves the formation and solving of simultaneous equations at two wavelengths 245 nm (λmax of RSGN) and 226 nm (λmax of GLZ). Q analysis method is based on the determination of absorbance ratio at two selected wavelengths, one being the isoabsorptive point for the two drugs (235 nm) and other being the absorption maxima of RSGN. Both developed methods obeyed the Beer’s law in the concentration range of 4-32 μg/ml for RSGN and 5-40 μg/ml for GLZ. The precision and accuracy of method were confirmed by repeatability and by recovery studies. Both methods were validated statistically. The method shows good repeatability and recovery with % RSD is less than 2. The method can be successfully employed for the simultaneous estimation of RSGN and GLZ in laboratory prepared mixtures and in commercial tablet preparation. Keywords
